The first thing you will need to do in order to cure marijuana is determine the amount that you would like to cure.

The curing process is generally set aside for large buds. The small buds you can smoke or vaporize until the curing process is over, which is generally 1 – 2 weeks. If you plan to cure marijuana that is a few pounds or less, you can use 1 quart Mason glass jars, but if it is 40 quarts or more a plastic storage box is recommended.

Place the buds in the storage container until it is about 80% full. This will allow air to circulate within the jar.

At this point you can take your container or containers with your large marijuana buds in it and place it in a dark area with a temperature around 50 – 65 degrees with 40 % – 60% humidity.

Each day you will need to open the container for 5 – 10 minutes, so that the stale air in the jar or box can be replaced with fresh air. This is called burping.

You will also need to rearrange the buds to ensure even drying, so quarter turn the storage container at least 1 – 2 times daily. This action will also prevent the development of molds or fungus. Make sure that you burp your containers between 2 – 6 times per day.

Do these things daily for 7 – 10 days and then after that you can burp less often.

If you plan on consuming your weed within a few months, you can keep it in the same container that you cured in. If you plan on storing it longer than a few months, vacuum seal it. And, when kept in a dark area with temperatures between 40 – 55 degrees, it will stay potent for up to 5 years!

Curing marijuana is a simple process that only takes about 1 – 2 weeks to complete. However, very few growers of Cannabis will even bother to take the time to cure their crop.

All growers have there reasons for not curing such as time, availability, low stash, money, etc. But, in order to taste and experience the highest quality bud, that only connoisseurs can appreciate, you will need to take the time to cure your bud.

The importance of curing marijuana is much like why wine is aged for months, years and even decades. It enhances the flavor, the quality and the distinctive characteristics each marijuana strain has.

During the curing process inactive THC is turned into active THC. In more scientific terms this means that the terpenes in the Cannabis will isomerize into polyterpenes which produces the mellow taste and flavor associated with high quality bud.

True connoisseurs of Cannabis know that the curing process is ESSENTIAL if you really want to get “HIGH, REAL HIGH”, because let’s be honest, that’s the point, right?
